About The Position

Small law firm located in downtown Seattle is looking for an experienced paralegal. Law practice includes commercial litigation, bankruptcy (creditor rights), real property law, some civil transactional work, and foreclosure. This position will involve working closely with clients, attorneys, and other paralegals; managing all aspects of state and federal court litigation; and working in bankruptcy and commercial/residential real property and foreclosure matters managing all aspects of litigation, bankruptcy, and commercial/residential real property and foreclosure matters. Experience preferred, but not required, if applicant has other related office work experience.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Drafting documents, pleadings and correspondence
  • Comprehensive case and calendar management
  • Electronic and hard-copy court filings (both state and federal)
  • Conducting legal and public records research
  • Docketing/calendaring case deadlines and reminders
  • Assisting with all aspects of lawsuit, including discovery, scheduling of and preparation for depositions, and transmittal and review of discovery documents, and trial work
  • Maintenance of assigned electronic and hard-copy files
  • Assisting other firm paralegals, attorneys and staff members needed

Qualifications include, but are not limited to:

  • Ability to independently manage assigned case load, including prioritization of deadlines
  • Knowledge of state and federal court rules
  • Must be organized, with excellent attention to detail
  • Comfortable working with a variety of client personality types
  • Proficiency with MS Outlook, Word, Excel; familiarity with Sage Timeslips preferred
  • Flexibility and willingness to help all office positions as needed (including reception)

Other information regarding the position:

  • Paralegals are assigned individual cases and are responsible for managing those cases
  • Experience with contracts and loan documents would be beneficial
  • Hours: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm – limited scheduling flexibility may be accommodated
  • Working past 5:00 pm or on a weekend is occasionally required
  • Must be team player - small group environment necessitates daily personal interaction – our office is not a solitary work environment.
