The Litigation Paralegal is responsible for actively contributing in a team environment by providing support to Shareholders, Associates and Staff Attorneys and will be an integral member of the team by assisting in the identification, collection, analysis and management of documentary and electronic evidence.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Drafts correspondence and basic pleadings including subpoenas, interrogatories, requests for production, affidavits and declarations
  • Utilizes computer databases and other Firm provided technology for document management, tracking and case analysis and to develop timelines, charts and graphs
  • Drafts stipulations, collects, reviews and prepares medical records summaries
  • Drafts correspondence, memoranda and other basic documents for internal or client use
  • Accurately and completely records billable time and tasks in compliance with Firm policy and client imposed billing protocols
  • Meets or exceeds annual billing requirements
  • Analyze basic legal requests and escalate for Senior Paralegal or Attorney review
  • Independently completes a variety of assignments, based on attorney and case needs, tracks and ensures deadlines are met

Minimum Requirements:

  • 2 – 5 years prior paralegal experience in a law firm or legal setting
  • Working knowledge and understanding of federal and state court rules and civil procedures
  • Superb organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to follow instructions and take actions independently
  • Ability to manage cases and work within deadlines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or Associates degree with a Paralegal Certificate is preferred, but we will consider other candidates from non-traditional backgrounds that demonstrate an interest and ability to learn and succeed
  • Experience in electronic discovery or an interest in learning and becoming eDiscovery Certified
  • Experience with mass tort and/or complex litigation

Hours / Schedule / Location:

  • 37.5 hours per week / Monday through Friday 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM / Seattle office
  • This is a full-time, non-exempt position that requires regular and predictable attendance in our Seattle office
  • Infrequent travel may be required for cross-office projects (all travel is currently on hold due to COVID-19)
  • At this time, the employee may be expected to work from home due to COVID-19, with a return to the office date unspecified at this time. The employee will need to have internet access and a space to work; Lane Powell will provide a laptop and all necessary technology
