On Feb. 17, 2010, the Maricopa County (AZ) Board of Supervisors chose another new state lawmaker.  Amanda A. Reeve, a paralegal with Bryan Cave, LLP, was unanimously chosen to replace Sam Crump, who resigned his Legislative District 6 House seat to run for Arizona’s 3rd Congressional District.

“I hope I will do you justice out there,” Reeve told the supervisors after being chosen from a panel of three candidates.

Reeve is the third lawmaker appointed this year by the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors. The supervisors on Feb. 8 appointed David Braswell to the District 6 Senate seat left vacant by Pamela Gorman. On Feb. 10, the supervisors appointed Ed Bunch to the District 7 Senate seat left vacant by Jim Waring. Gorman and Waring will be running against Crump in Arizona’s 3rd Congressional District.

Reeve, who is active at the grassroots level of the Republican Party, said she hasn’t fully developed positions on the budget or specific legislative priorities at this point. She painted her budget philosophy in broad strokes, saying she is a fiscal conservative who supports tax cuts. Reeve said she plans to seek election to the seat later this year.

“I think it would be an injustice not to run,” said Reeve.

Kunasek complimented the other two candidates, U.S. Army Officer Steve H. Kaiser and trauma surgeon Patrick J. O’Neill, by saying they are both qualified and ready to serve. The three nominees were chosen by Republican precinct committeemen earlier this month.
